Letter From The Chairman (until 2018) Michael Moore

Due to health issues, I regret I have to retire at the forthcoming AGM in May 2018. It has been a very enjoyable time as Chairman and I shall miss it very much, but after nearly eight years leading the Charity, the time has come for someone else to take the reins. As we hope to have a new base when the new development is completed in 2019/20, this would be a good time for someone new to lead the Friends. I shall be around to give any advice to the new Chairman if he requires it.

During my term as Chairman, I have had the privilege of meeting many people especially you the members who have kept the Friends alive and kicking, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your loyalty.

I have met all the staff of the old Museum and Art Gallery and worked with some of them on a volunteer basis. I also have sat on numerous outside committees and met many volunteers from those organisations.

My relationship with Nicola Moyle, Head of Arts and Heritage, has been a privilege and I shall miss our one to one discussions, but I am sure we shall cross paths somewhere in the ether. It is here that I thank her and her staff for all the help and assistance given to the Friends over the years, and I am sure this relationship will continue with the new Chairperson.

I wish all the best to the Friends which is now in its sixty seventh year since its inauguration in 1951.

Fond wishes

Michael
